The successful candidate will have CA/CPA/IPA credentials (or progress) and strong knowledge of Australian Auditing Standards, offering leadership in a newly created role within the firm.

Hours: Flexible Part-Time or Full-Time (30–38 hours per week)

ClarityNT is a boutique accounting and advisory firm delivering accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, payroll, audit and business advisory services across the Northern Territory and APY Lands, with extensive experience supporting Aboriginal corporations, schools, incorporated associations and small businesses. Based in Alice Springs, our team works both locally and remotely across Australia. We're looking for an experienced Audit Manager to lead our Audit & Assurance division alongside our Managing Director. This is a newly created role within the firm.

You'll lead external audits of incorporated associations and schools end-to-end, manage audit preparation for clients whose statutory audit is signed off by an external Registered Company Auditor, lead and train the audit team, and help establish the internal procedures and best practices that underpin the division as it grows.

This role is primarily work-from-home for candidates outside Alice Springs, with flexible hours between 30 and 38 per week. NT-based candidates are preferred; applicants elsewhere in Australia are welcome, provided they're willing to travel to the NT when required.

Only candidates with current and unrestricted rights to work in Australia will be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, lead and manage external audits of incorporated associations and schools from planning through to completion, including preparation of audit reports, management letters and other deliverables
• Present audit findings and recommendations to Boards, committees and management
• Manage audit preparation for clients whose statutory audit is signed off by an external Registered Company Auditor including; preparing financial statements and working papers, and liaising with the auditor throughout
• Establish, embed and continuously improve internal audit procedures, methodologies, templates and quality assurance processes to support best practice as the division grows
• Lead, train, mentor and develop audit and accounting team members, reviewing their work and providing technical guidance
• Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships as the primary point of contact
• Ensure compliance with Australian Auditing Standards and applicable legislation
• Assist with workflow planning, scheduling and resource management across the division
• Identify, develop and pursue opportunities to grow the firm's audit, assurance and related advisory services, including supporting proposals, tenders and other business development activity
• Contribute to the strategic growth and profitability of the Audit & Assurance division
• Provide taxation, accounting and business advisory services as required, including preparing BAS and other compliance obligations
• Assist clients with governance, compliance and reporting obligations, including funding acquittals and grant reporting
• Liaise with the Managing Director on strategy, resourcing and quality control

What you’ll bring

• Batchelor in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline
• CA,CPA or IPA qualified (or working towards), with proven audit management experience
• Broader taxation, accounting or business advisory experience
• Strong knowledge of the Australian Auditing Standards
• Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills
• High attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management skills
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor others and build trusted client relationships
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and cloud-based accounting and audit software
