Job summary

National Audits Group is seeking an Audit Director in Sydney to provide strategic oversight and lead a high-performing external audit team. The role focuses on audit quality, client outcomes, risk management, and leadership within the Sydney practice.

You will manage senior client relationships, drive workflow efficiency, and contribute to the firm’s strategy and technology-enabled audit delivery. Hybrid work is available, with a strong focus on quality and independence.

Qualifications

• Registered Company Auditor (RCA) with current ASIC registration.
• CA or CPA qualification.
• Australian audit experience including senior signing responsibility.
• Experience managing significant audit portfolios (ideally $1M+).
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and team development.
• Confident, professional communicator with senior clients, Boards, and stakeholders.

• Act as a Registered Company Auditor and signing authority for Sydney statutory audits.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Sydney audit team of Managers, Seniors, and Auditors.
• Own senior client relationships and deliver consistently high-quality audit outcomes.
• Act as the escalation point for complex audit, accounting, and regulatory matters.
• Drive audit quality, workflow effectiveness, and professional standards across the business unit.
• Contribute to firm strategy, business development, and technology-enabled audit delivery.

The Role

As Audit Director, you will provide strategic oversight, technical leadership, and people leadership within our Sydney External Audit practice, which services an overall audit fee base of approximately $3.0 million.

You will have direct accountability for audit quality, client outcomes, risk management, and team performance within your business unit.

• Act as a Registered Company Auditor and signing authority for Sydney statutory audits
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Sydney audit team of Managers, Seniors, and Auditors
• Own senior client relationships and deliver consistently high-quality audit outcomes
• Act as the escalation point for complex audit, accounting, and regulatory matters
• Drive audit quality, workflow effectiveness, and professional standards across the business unit
• Contribute to firm strategy, business development, and technology-enabled audit delivery

This is a pure audit role — no tax, no business services.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

• Registered Company Auditor (RCA) — current ASIC registration (mandatory)
• CA or CPA qualification
• Australian audit experience, including senior signing responsibility
• Demonstrated experience managing significant audit portfolios (ideally $1M+)
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards
• Proven leadership capability — mentoring, performance management, and team development
• Confident, professional communicator with senior clients, Boards, and stakeholders

Desirable:

• Experience across corporate, NFP, and/or AFSL audits
• Exposure to Caseware, FYI or similar audit platforms
• Experience working with multi-office or offshore delivery models
• Interest in technology-enabled audit delivery
• Solid understanding and experience with AI

Remuneration

$190,000 – $220,000 + super, depending on experience.
