Job summary

Aruma is seeking an Assurance Officer to strengthen compliance, governance, and ethical practice across the organisation in Australia. You will work in the second line of assurance, providing guidance, developing frameworks, and delivering assurance activities to promote transparency and accountability.

The role covers risk reviews, policy development, training, and support for investigations, with a focus on privacy, regulatory matters, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in compliance, governance, risk management, assurance, or internal audit.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, frameworks, and compliance programs.
• Strong analytical skills to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Experience overseeing assurance activities, audits, or regulatory initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and training abilities.
• A commitment to ethics and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain registers of compliance obligations and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and maintain an organisation-wide assurance calendar, including audits, inspections, and reviews.
• Enhance compliance and obligations-mapping frameworks, ensuring legislative and regulatory requirements are accurately documented.
• Support the implementation of first-line assurance monitoring and self-assessment activities.
• Analyse assurance outcomes, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
• Conduct risk and process reviews across operational and corporate functions.
• Contribute to the development of internal audit programs and assurance methodologies.
• Lead the development and implementation of business ethics, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
• Provide advice, training, and guidance to stakeholders on compliance, privacy, and regulatory matters.
• Support investigations, reporting, and continuous improvement activities relating to governance and compliance.
• Build organisational awareness of compliance obligations through communication, coaching, and education.
