Job summary

Hooker and Heijden - Insurance and Underwriting Recruitment in Brisbane is recruiting for an Associate and a Senior Associate in personal injury (plaintiff). The firm has a well-established Brisbane practice with a light file load to allow proper handling of matters.

You will run mixed motor vehicle and PI files, engage clients from the first consultation, and coordinate with counsel for settlements and mediations.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in Queensland and eligible to act in personal injury cases.
• 2+ years PQE in plaintiff personal injury for Associate.
• 5+ years PQE in plaintiff personal injury for Senior Associate.
• Solid experience under Queensland personal injury legislation.
• Excellent client communication and ability to support clients through difficult times.

Responsibilities

• Run a mixed file of motor vehicle accident claims and general personal injury matters through to resolution.
• Work directly with clients from the first consultation, explaining the process clearly and keeping them informed.
• Prepare matters for settlement conferences and mediations, and brief counsel where needed.
• Senior Associate: supervise and support junior lawyers and work closely with principals.

Both roles run a mixed personal injury practice with a comparably light file load. That means time to run your matters properly, rather than spending the week just keeping up.

The roles

• Run a mixed file of motor vehicle accident claims and general personal injury matters through to resolution

About you

• Admitted to practice in Queensland

• Senior Associate: 5+ years PQE in plaintiff personal injury, and able to run a file with minimal supervision
  
• Solid experience under Queensland personal injury legislation
  
• Good with clients, and comfortable with people who are going through a difficult time
