Job summary

Australian Retirement Trust is seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager - Quantitative Enablement in Brisbane or Sydney. You will build scalable data pipelines, analytics and infrastructure to support quantitative research, modelling and investment decisions.

You will collaborate across Investments and deliver data-driven insights, while improving data quality and governance in a sophisticated investment environment. This permanent role offers hybrid work and growth opportunities.

As an Associate Portfolio Manager - Quantitative Enablement, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality data pipelines, analytics and technical infrastructure that support quantitative research, modelling and investment decision making. You’ll bring together financial markets expertise, data engineering capability and analytical thinking to improve portfolio insights, support investment teams and contribute to data-driven decision making across our portfolios.

You’ll work closely with teams across Investments to develop scalable data solutions, enhance data quality, support investment analytics and help deliver strategic initiatives that strengthen our investment capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to apply modern data technologies within a sophisticated investment environment while influencing outcomes that benefit our members.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll:

• Assist in the design and development of quantitative investment data pipelines and analytical tools that support investment decision making.
• Build and maintain robust data solutions covering market data, holdings, transactions, benchmarks and risk metrics.
• Translate investment concepts into scalable, reliable and efficient data products.
• Enhance investment data quality, governance, documentation and reproducibility standards.
• Deliver research, analysis and insights that contribute to investment strategy and portfolio outcomes.
• Collaborate with quantitative research, analytics and data teams to align tools and infrastructure with strategic priorities.
• Provide technical support and resolve data-related issues for investment stakeholders.
• Support governance, compliance and risk management activities across the investment function.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you’ll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We’ll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It’s quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

• You hold a degree or diploma in Business, Technology or a related discipline.
• Your experience includes designing, developing and supporting solutions using technologies such as Snowflake, DBT and Python.
• You are an expert data modeler, comfortable with creating logical, physical and conceptual data models.
• You’ll have experience working across analytics and software development lifecycles.
• You’re knowledgeable about financial markets, asset classes and portfolio management concepts.
• You bring strong research and analytical capability and can turn complex information into practical insights.
• Your stakeholder management skills enable you to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes.
• You’ll be comfortable presenting insights and recommendations to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• You’re experienced working within CI/CD environments and delivering using agile concepts.
• You demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and can manage competing priorities effectively.
• Your experience in financial modelling, strategic thinking or mentoring others will be highly regarded.
