At UTS, we’re changing the game. We’re on a journey to be the leading university of technology and we’re moving the world forward with our breakthroughs. We want bright minds and constantly curious people to help us make it happen. As a young university, our goal is to connect, collaborate and make an impact with purpose and passion.

About the role

We are seeking an outstanding Indigenous leader to join the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology as Associate Dean (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement).

The Associate Dean (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) reports to the Dean and plays a pivotal leadership role within the Faculty and the wider UTS community. The position leads the development, implementation and monitoring of the Faculty’s Indigenous education, research and employment strategy and related initiatives, with the aim of maximising Indigenous engagement and success across the Faculty.

As the primary source of Indigenous strategic advice within the Faculty, you will advise the Dean and senior leadership on matters of Indigenous significance and work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) to ensure Faculty priorities align with university-wide Indigenous policy, strategy and key performance indicators.

About You

You will be an experienced Indigenous academic leader with the ability to provide strategic and operational advice and build strong collaborative relationships across a complex organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic and academic leadership in Indigenous education and research, with the ability to contribute to Faculty and University-wide priorities.
  • Strong experience progressing Indigenous strategic objectives within a complex environment, including supporting the development and implementation of strategy, policy and initiatives.
  • Highly developed leadership, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build collaborative relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges, opportunities and contemporary issues affecting Indigenous higher education, including education, research, research training and employment.
  • A strong record of academic and/or professional leadership, supported by high-level qualifications or equivalent accreditation and standing in a relevant discipline.
