Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an Associate Application Developer for Sydney, Australia. You will collaborate with clients to design and build customized systems using best-practice technologies, translating business needs into technical solutions.

In this role you’ll work across the full stack, including databases, operating systems, and modern UI frameworks, while applying IBM Design Thinking to deliver scalable, high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Be an Australian Citizen.
• Demonstrated programming proficiency with at least one of Java, C++, Python, Scala, R, SAS, SQL, Hadoop, HTML, SPSS, VBA, Tableau, Spark, Angular, ReactJS; plus systems design/development coursework.
• Exposure to web services, API and Java frameworks such as Springboot.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Familiarity with generative AI modeling, ethics, and methodologies.
• Familiarity with Microservices, infrastructure concepts and cloud platforms AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, and Google Cloud.
• Bachelor degree in IT, CS, or related engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Work across full system architecture to design, develop, and support high quality, scalable products and interfaces.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define technical specifications for generative AI projects.
• Apply IBM Design Thinking to create products with strong UX, performance, security, quality and stability.
• Work with relational databases (SQL, Postgres, DB2, MongoDB), operating systems (Linux, Windows, iOS, Android), and modern UI frameworks (Backbone.js, AngularJS, React, Ember.js, Bootstrap, JQuery).
• Create everything from mockups and UI components to algorithms and data structures to deliver viable products.
