Job summary

Council is seeking a self-motivated individual to join its Water Reclamation team to support day-to-day operations and running of sewage treatment plants around Wagga Wagga and surrounding towns.

This permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week) offers a fortnightly gross salary of $2,686.30 to $3,223.56 plus super, access to a nine-day fortnight, generous leave and ongoing training. You will assist in operations, sampling, maintenance and compliance with environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Class C Driver’s Licence required.
• White Card (GC) required.
• AQF3 Chemical Accreditation desirable.
• Demonstrated experience with mowing and whipper snipper operations, including tractor/4WD equipment.
• Experience with chemical application and weed control; includes boom/spot sprayer operation.
• Experience with pressure cleaners and blowers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of Council’s sewage treatment plants.
• Undertake sample collection in line with best practice and licence requirements.
• Perform general maintenance of plant grounds and equipment.
• Clean process units within the treatment plants.

Job description

We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join Council’s Water Reclamation team to assist in the day-to-day operations and running of the sewage treatment plants around Wagga Wagga and surrounding towns.

• Permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week).
• Remuneration package of $2,686.30 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,223.56 gross per fortnight + superannuation.
• Access to Council’s nine (9) day fortnight arrangement.

In this role, you will provide assistance to the Water Reclamation Operator and team, to achieve high-quality maintenance and day-to-day operation of Council’s sewage treatment plants including effluent reuse, bio-solids management and associated infrastructure services.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• Assisting in the operation and maintenance of Council’s sewage treatment plants ensuring the facilities reflect industry best practice and comply with environmental legislative requirements.
• Undertake sample collection in accordance with best practice and licence requirements.
• Undertake numerous general maintenance duties of all sewage treatment plant grounds.
• Undertake cleaning of the sewage treatment plant process units.

As the successful applicant, you will hold the following:

• Class C Driver’s Licence;
• General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card); and
• AQF3 Chemical Accreditation (Desirable).

Demonstrated experience in the following:

• Mowing and whipper snipper operation including mowing with a tractor or 4WD Kubota F3690 mower (or similar);
• Chemical application and weed control including operation of boom and spot sprayer; and
• Pressure cleaner and blower operation.

In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Q-Fever and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
