NHVR External Careers is looking for an Assistant Technical Officer to assess PBS applications, apply policy rules, and support efficient approval processes. Responsibilities

• Review, assess and determine PBS applications, applying the assessment rules and policy frameworks.
• Provide advice to customers about the PBS approval process, vehicle standards and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver exceptional service to external and internal stakeholders and customers via the provision of accurate information in a clear and effective manner and ensure risks are identified and managed.
• Ensure NHVR stakeholders receive accurate PBS advice which leads to cooperative compliance and enforcement regarding vehicle regulations.
• Liaise, negotiate, and effectively communicate with customers.
• Contribute to reviews and projects designed to improve performance and operational integrity of the NHVR's PBS scheme.
• Assist the development and continuous improvement of the operation of the PBS scheme and its policies and procedures.
• Contribute to team plans and goals and display high levels of energy, tenacity, and motivation to deliver high-quality core services.
• Ensure confidential information is managed in accordance with relevant legislature and/or corporate policy requirements.

About the role

Working as Assistant Technical Officer, you will play a vital role in evaluating and determining Performance Based Standards (PBS) applications, ensuring assessments are accurate, consistent, and aligned with established policy frameworks. You will provide advice on complex applications and case management matters, contribute to the efficient delivery of approval processes, and support key organisational priorities relating to safety and compliance. Working closely with industry representatives, customers, and government partners, you will build strong stakeholder relationships while contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of PBS policies and frameworks that drive innovation and enhance road safety outcomes.
