Job summary

Norco Co-operative Limited is seeking a motivated Assistant Store Manager for the Wauchope store to lead daily operations and develop the team. You will drive customer service excellence, manage inventory, and support safe, efficient store performance in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will work closely with the Store Manager to deliver outstanding results, build community relationships and contribute to long-term store success.

Qualifications

• Experience leading retail teams in a customer-facing environment.
• Ability to drive store performance and operational objectives.
• Proven coaching and development of staff to deliver exceptional service.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to customer-focused service and safety.
• Experience with stock control, cash handling and inventory processes.
• Current and valid driver’s license (essential).
• Forklift license or willingness to obtain.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and hands‑on individual with strong customer service, operational and leadership capabilities to join our Wauchope team as Assistant Store Manager.
This is a key leadership role within the store. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will help drive store performance, develop team capability and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
You will lead by example, support day‑to‑day operations and provide strong leadership to ensure the store continues to operate successfully in a fast‑paced retail environment.
As a trusted part of the local community, our Wauchope store plays an important role supporting a diverse range of customers across the region. You'll be joining a supportive team environment where you can make a genuine contribution to both the store's success and the local community.

In This Role, You Will

To Be Successful, You Will Demonstrate

• Leadership experience in a retail, agricultural or customer‑facing environment.
• Ability to motivate, coach and develop team members.
• Strong operational and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• A customer‑focused approach and sound commercial awareness.
• Experience with inventory management, stock control and cash handling processes.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Current and valid driver's licence (essential).
• Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain).
• Relevant qualification in business, retail, agriculture or a related field (desirable but not essential).
• Interest in agriculture, rural products or regional communities would be highly regarded.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and hands‑on approach.
