Seven West Media Limited is seeking an Assistant Editor to drive the daily news agenda for 7NEWS.com.au from Sydney. You will support the editorial operation, help shape stories, edit and publish fast, accurate coverage for a national audience.

The role blends hands-on editing with newsroom operations, campaigns across sport, and major events. Strong journalism qualifications and SEO/analytics expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in digital journalism and editing.
• Excellent commissioning, copy-editing and headline-writing skills.
• Sound understanding of media law, editorial ethics and verification.
• Strong knowledge of SEO, analytics and CMS.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day editorial operation of 7NEWS.com.au, commissioning, editing and publishing breaking news and developing stories.
• Collaborate with editors, reporters and producers to ensure content is accurate and engaging.
• Assist content planning for major events, investigations, politics, business and special coverage initiatives.
• Work with newsroom, social, video and audience teams to maximise reach and engagement.
