Job summary

ALH Hotels is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Surfers Paradise Beergarden, a busy Gold Coast venue. You’ll work within a team-led management structure, sharing shift loads and collaborating on floor strategy to drive standards.

You’ll supervise peers across a high-energy environment, handle operational challenges, and lead with energy and excellent guest service. RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence are required as per state rules.

Qualifications

• Hands-on role requiring manual handling and lifting; ability to perform physical tasks safely.
• Experience in bar, bistro, or gaming room; some supervisory exposure is preferred.
• Willingness to step up and lead in a busy hospitality environment.
• Must hold RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Get to know locals and be part of the pub crew.
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely and with a great vibe.
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of hospitality staff.

About The Role

Assistant Manager | Surfers Paradise Beergarden

Are you a hospitality professional ready to step onto the floor at one of the Gold Coast’s most famous, fast‑paced venues? The Surfers Paradise Beergarden is looking for a driven Assistant Manager who thrives in a high‑tempo coastal environment and excels in a team‑led management structure. We skip the traditional isolated Duty Manager model. Instead, our venue is powered by a team of multiple Assistant Managers. You’ll work alongside a strong group of peers to share shift load, collaborate on floor strategy, and drive standards together. Whether steering a high‑volume weekend crowd across our open‑air beer garden, managing big fight night energy in our sports bar, or overseeing gaming and function spaces, you’ll be right in the heart of the action with complete floor‑level support.

A Day In The Life Of An Assistant Manager

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches

Inherent Requirements

• This is a hands‑on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About You

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
