Job summary

Toymate Pty in Bankstown, NSW is seeking an Assistant Manager ( Merchandise Manager ) to support daily store operations, lead a high-performing team, and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

You will coach staff, optimise visual merchandising, manage stock, rostering, and daily reporting, and serve as a role model, stepping in as acting Store Manager when needed. Availability across weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of retail management or supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Organised, reliable, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for retail and team development.
• Availability to work across weekends and trading hours.

Are you a motivated leader ready to take the next step in your retail career? We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Merchandise Manager (our internal title for our Assistant Managers) to support daily operations, drive team performance, and help deliver an exceptional customer experience.

What You’ll Do:

Support the Store Manager in running all aspects of store operations

Lead, coach and motivate team members to achieve targets and provide excellent service

Maintain high standards in visual merchandising and stock presentation

Assist in managing stock control, rostering, and daily reporting

Act as a role model for the team and step up as acting Store Manager when needed

At least 2 years' retail experience in a management or supervisory role

Strong communication and people skills

Organised, reliable, and confident in a fast-paced environment

A passion for retail, problem-solving, and team development

Availability to work across weekends and trading hours
