Job summary

Smithfield Tavern in Tropical North Queensland is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a busy floor, manage a large crew, and keep service at gold-class hospitality across the bistro, sports bar and gaming room.

This hands-on role requires physical tasks; RSA/RSG, RMLV and an Approved Managers Licence are required by state rules. You’ll mentor staff, drive energy on shift, and partner with the Publican to deliver safe, efficient operations and a welcoming community.

Qualifications

• This is a hands-on role involving physical tasks and lifting.
• Must hold RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements.
• Experience supervising in bar, bistro or gaming room is preferred.
• Strong people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away.

Responsibilities

• Support the Publican to run the pub smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe.
• Lead a team across shifts and manage daily operations.
• Handle hiccups quickly and maintain high service standards.
• Engage with locals to create gold-class hospitality every shift.
