Job summary

ALH Hotels is hiring an Assistant Manager for the Bundoora Hotel in Melbourne. You will lead daily operations, oversee staff, and ensure safe, friendly service that keeps locals coming back.

You’ll work hands-on in a busy pub environment, coordinating with the Publican to maintain a top-notch vibe while handling occasional lifting and stock movements. RSA/RCG/Gaming Licence are required, and great leadership is valued.

Qualifications

• Hands-on hospitality leadership role requiring physical tasks (lifting, moving stock, deliveries).
• RSA, RCG & Gaming Licence as per state requirements are essential.
• Experience in bar, bistro, or gaming room environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Get to know locals and build rapport as the pub's face when the boss is away.
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe.
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of hospitality staff.
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches.
• Bring energy, service, and smiles on every shift.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands‑on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA,RCG & Gaming Licence as per state requirements
