Job summary

Mercy Health Albury is offering a fixed-term, part-time AIN role in our Transitional Aged Care Program. You'll provide practical support, social engagement, and health monitoring to care recipients living at home under RN supervision.

This role is 72 hours per fortnight, with day shifts and some weekend work; training and orientation are provided, and nursing students are encouraged to apply. A current Police Check and Working with Children Check are required.

Qualifications

  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support or working towards same.
  • Nursing student suitably experienced in Aged Care, Home Care or acute/subacute care.
  • Organised, reliable and accountable for your work within scope of practice.
  • Ability to perform confidently without direct supervision.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Police Record Check and Working with Children Check required.
  • Influenza vaccination and status per public health orders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical support (personal care, domestic assistance and transport) and social support and health monitoring under supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Join a multidisciplinary team of Nursing and Allied Health professionals.
  • Contribute to care recipients reaching individual goals and living safely at home.
  • Gain valuable experience in a supportive environment.

About the opportunity

Are you looking for a work opportunity that is rewarding and varied? Are you interested in Aged Care but tired of shift work? Mercy Health's Transitional Aged Care Program is a Community-based 12 week program providing clinical and practical support to care-recipients in their own homes. The AIN is responsible for providing practical support (eg. personal care, domestic assistance and transport) as well as social support and health monitoring under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. You will join an experienced and passionate team of Nursing and Allied Health professionals, all committed to helping care recipients reach their individual goals, and be safe and confident living in their own homes. This is an opportunity for novice AINs and nursing students to gain valuable experience in a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment.

Permanent part-time fixed term position 72 hours per fortnight Day shifts only, some weekend work (shift penalties apply) Nursing students of all levels encouraged to apply Full training and orientation provided Professional Development opportunities.

What you’ll bring
  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support or equivalent (or working towards same)
  • Nursing student suitably experienced in Aged Care, Home Care or acute/subacute care
  • Organised, reliable and accountable for your work within scope of practice
  • Ability to perform confidently without direct supervision
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Current unrestricted driver’s license

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
