Canberra Grammar School invites applications for an Assistant IB DP Coordinator who will lead the Diploma Programme Core and support the Assistant Director of Academic Education in Years 11 and 12.   • Relevant tertiary degree and recognised teaching qualification.
  • Knowledge of the IB Diploma Programme and its Core components (TOK, EE, CAS).
  • Experience leading or coordinating curriculum, programme or Core.
  • Ability to monitor student progress and translate insights into improvements.
  • Collaborative leadership style coordinating others while respecting authority.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Diploma Programme Core, including Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Academic Education in leading Years 11 and 12.
  • Ensure coherence, quality and academic integrity of the Core.
  • Drive evidence-informed improvement within the IB Programme Standards and Practices.
  • Coordinate teachers and supervisors without displacing Heads’ authority.

About the Role

The Assistant IB DP Coordinator leads the Diploma Programme Core, comprising Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service, and supports the Assistant Director of Academic Education (IBDP) in leading the Diploma Programme in Years 11 and 12.

The Assistant Coordinator holds the coherence, quality and academic integrity of the Core, monitors student progress across it, and drives evidence-informed improvement within the International Baccalaureate Programme Standards and Practices. The role guides and coordinates the teachers of Theory of Knowledge and the supervisors of the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service, without displacing the authority of Heads of Department and Faculty.

Beyond the Core, the role undertakes delegated operational, academic and compliance leadership on behalf of the Assistant Director and contributes to strategic planning and programme coherence across Years 10 to 12.

You will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and recognised teaching qualification
  • ACT teacher registration through TQI, or the ability to obtain registration
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the IB Diploma Programme and its Core: Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service
  • Experience leading or coordinating a curriculum, programme or Core component, including assessment, moderation and quality assurance
  • The ability to monitor student progress, interpret evidence and translate insights into meaningful programme improvement
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to coordinate the work of others while respecting established areas of authority
  • A commitment to the full life of an independent school, including participation in activities outside regular hours when required.
