Job summary

MLC School in Sydney is seeking an experienced Mathematics educator to join as Assistant Head of Department - Mathematics from January 2027. You will work with the Head of Department to lead day-to-day operations, support high-quality teaching and learning, and help manage curriculum delivery.

The role requires strong HSC Mathematics experience, including Extension Mathematics, with potential IB familiarity. A proactive, detail-focused leader who fosters collaboration will excel.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching Mathematics across HSC levels, including Extension Mathematics.
• Strong curriculum knowledge and the confidence to support or take responsibility for senior Mathematics courses when required.
• Experience with IB Mathematics, or familiarity with the IB curriculum, would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Initiative and the ability to work independently, anticipating needs and following tasks through to completion.
• Attention to detail when reviewing assessments, curriculum documentation and departmental processes.
• Collaborative leadership style and a commitment to ongoing development of the Mathematics Department.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical day-to-day leadership across the Mathematics Department, supporting teaching and learning, assessment and curriculum delivery.
• Review assessments, documentation and processes to support accuracy and high standards.
• Provide practical guidance and support to colleagues when teaching or classroom management concerns arise.
• Contribute positively to the ongoing development of the Mathematics Department.
