Job summary

Suncorp Group is seeking an Assistant Financial Control Accountant to support month-end close, reconciliations and general ledger accuracy in a large financial services setting. This permanent full-time role is open to Brisbane or Sydney with a hybrid work arrangement.

You will work with the Finance & Advice team to ensure compliant financial reporting, assist with audits, and contribute to process improvements while developing in a dynamic group.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or related discipline.
• 2+ years' experience in a junior accounting, assistant accountant or similar role.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Solid understanding of general ledger and accounting principles.
• High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
• Strong Excel capability.
• Exposure to Oracle or similar system (desirable).
• CA/CPA studies commenced or willingness to commence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Complete month-end close activities including preparing journals.
• Maintain balance sheet and bank reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Investigate and resolve ledger and reconciliation issues.
• Ensure financial transactions are correctly recorded in the general ledger.
• Support audit requirements and respond to audit queries.
• Apply financial control standards, policies and governance requirements.
• Contribute to improvements that strengthen accounting processes and controls.
