Job summary

The ACT Public Service invites applications for the role of Assistant Director, Crime Prevention and Policing. The role supports the Director in developing strategic policy initiatives and funding arrangements to improve community safety and outcomes for vulnerable people in contact with the justice system.

Operating within the Public Safety and Emergency Management Branch, the position contributes to evidence-based justice policy that is culturally safe, restorative, gender and trauma informed,

Qualifications

• Experience in criminology, social policy or legal program development.
• Ability to develop strategic policy and briefs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
• Hybrid/work policy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic policy initiatives and briefs for crime prevention and policing.
• Conduct policy research and analysis to inform evidence-based justice policy.
• Support governance arrangements across government and coordinate submissions.
• Advise on policing policy and assist negotiating ACT Policing arrangements.
