Job summary

HPP Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the team on the Gold Coast. You will perform month-end close, prepare journals and reconciliations, and support broader accounting functions within a highly digitalised environment.

You should have practical accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and be comfortable learning new systems and technologies to improve processes and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong practical experience with month-end, journals and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Highly organised with attention to detail.
• Able to identify and resolve issues independently.
• Capable of managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
• Flexible and adaptable when systems or requirements change.
• Confident using technology and learning new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and finalise month-end accounting processes.
• Prepare journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Review transactions and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and other general accounting functions.
• Assist with purchasing.
• Support financial reporting and analysis.
• Maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with accounting and finance-related queries across the business.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and efficiencies.
