Job summary

Cotton On Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Geelong. You will support the month-end close, prepare prepayments, and maintain strong financial controls to ensure accurate reporting.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, you’ll help deliver timely financial insights, reconcile balances, and contribute to process improvements within a collaborative, customer‑facing fashion business.

Qualifications

• Degree or qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
• CPA or CA qualifications preferred.
• Competent in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general prepayments.
• Process and reconcile utilities, tax fees, travel, eCommerce postage and marketing expense accruals.
• Complete month end allocations and journals.
• Prepare invoice integration files to support the Accounts Payable function.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.
• Assist with month end reporting activities and financial close processes.
• Support external audit requests and provide required documentation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and maintain strong financial controls.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have a great opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic individual to join our Finance team as an Assistant Accountant. In this role, you will support the accounting and wider finance team in delivering accurate and timely month end reporting and financial control activities. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will help maintain the integrity of financial information, support the month end close process, and contribute to the efficient operation of the finance function.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree / qualification in relevant field i.e. Accounting, Commerce, Finance
• Completed or working towards CPA & CA qualifications
• Competent in Microsoft Excel, with a good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service approach
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisation and time management skills
