You will support the Defence Finance team in delivering the Defence Property and Assets (PAS) contract through accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. The role supports daily, weekly, and monthly financial processes, including revenue and cost reporting, balance sheet integrity, management reporting, and month-end and ad hoc corporate reporting activities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Assist with monthly, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Support the preparation of management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of revenue, costs, and financial performance.
Maintain balance sheet integrity through timely reconciliations, investigation of discrepancies, and supporting documentation.
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with financial controls, policies, and Defence contractual requirements.
Assist Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Payroll, and Shared Services teams to resolve financial queries and maintain efficient operations.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting accuracy, and system effectiveness.
Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis, corporate reporting, and other activities that contribute to the successful delivery of the Defence Property and Assets (PAS) contract.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Relevant accounting experience, with progress towards or an intention to complete a CA or CPA qualification preferred.
Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline highly regarded.
You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
