Job summary

AutoGrab, a fast-growing automotive data and technology company in South Yarra, is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant. In this hands-on role, you will manage financial data across international operations, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, at least 4 years of experience, and strong knowledge of Xero and accounting principles. Join a collaborative team culture with direct access to senior leadership.

AutoGrab is a fast-growing automotive data and technology company operating across Australia, the UK and Malaysia. We build tools that help car dealers, insurers and financial institutions make smarter, faster decisions - from live vehicle valuations and market intelligence to full dealership management solutions.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in South Yarra. This is a hands‑on role with real breadth - you’ll work across multi‑entity operations, subscription billing, international payments, and month‑end close, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller.

You’ll be the person who keeps our financial data accurate and our processes running smoothly across the AutoGrab Group - including our Australian, UK and Malaysian entities. You’ll work closely with Sales, Operations and the broader business, and you’ll bring initiative and attention to detail to everything you do.

This role is an immediate backfill and we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

What You’ll Do

Accounts Payable

• Process supplier invoices accurately and on time
• Manage payment runs across multiple payment gateways
• Conduct regular credit control and manage aged payables
• Handle supplier queries professionally and promptly

Accounts Receivable

• Generate and issue customer billing accurately and on time
• Conduct regular credit control and manage aged receivables
• Handle customer queries professionally and promptly
• Reconcile customer accounts

Month‑End & Reconciliations

• Prepare and post month‑end journals for accruals, prepayments and adjustments
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations including AP, AR, GST and prepayments
• Reconcile intercompany loan accounts across the AutoGrab Group
• Prepare supporting documentation for month‑end close

General Finance Support

• Assist with bank reconciliations and transaction investigations
• Process credit card reconciliations and staff expense claims
• Maintain accurate financial records in Xero and Google Drive
• Support ad hoc reporting and finance team projects
• Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• 4+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles - GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, balance sheet and month‑end
• Strong working knowledge of Xero
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis
• High attention to detail with strong problem‑solving ability
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑moving environment
• Clear, professional communication and interpersonal skills
• Team‑oriented, proactive and adaptable
• Experience in a SaaS or technology business
• Working towards or completed CPA or CA qualification
• Multi‑entity group and international payment experience
• Exposure to ERP systems (we’re implementing NetSuite)
