AGL Energy is leading the transition to a cleaner energy future. The Asset Performance Engineer role focuses on ensuring reliability, performance and optimisation of distributed energy assets such as solar PV systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with solar PV performance monitoring and fault diagnosis desirable.

About the role

As part of our Sustainable Business Energy Solutions team, you’ll play a key role in optimising and supporting a growing portfolio of distributed energy assets, including solar PV systems and emerging renewable technologies.

About the Role

As an Asset Performance Engineer, you’ll sit within the Asset Performance team, helping ensure the ongoing reliability, performance and optimisation of distributed energy assets once they’re operational. Working across monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities, you’ll play a critical role in maximising asset performance and delivering strong outcomes for customers and stakeholders. This is a highly technical role with a strong focus on solar PV performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, project onboarding and technical support across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy systems. The role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyse system performance using industry-leading monitoring platforms to identify and resolve faults.
  • Provide remote technical support and occasional site-based assistance to contractors investigating and rectifying system issues.
  • Support service case management and liaise with suppliers regarding technical support and warranty claims.
  • Complete technical onboarding of newly installed energy assets, including design, operational and handover reviews.
  • Review contractor documentation from planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Lead investigations into complex technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and contractors.
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in a STEM discipline.
  • Experience in solar PV system design, monitoring and/or operations is highly regarded.
  • SAA / CEC qualifications are highly regarded, however not essential.
  • Sound understanding of relevant Australian standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal teams.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
