Job summary

X-ELIO in Australia is seeking an Asset Manager to lead revenue, OPEX optimization and performance analysis for solar PV and BESS assets. Based in Melbourne or Brisbane, the role demands hands-on execution in a fast-paced, international environment and close collaboration with O&M, finance, and regulatory stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4 years of professional experience in solar PV or BESS asset management or related technical roles.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar qualification.
• Knowledge of the Australian energy market (NEM/AEMO) and grid requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret technical data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Highly motivated, autonomous and proactive with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience at a renewable energy developer, IPP, or technical asset manager is a plus.
• Fluent English (C1–C2); Spanish knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools, SCADA platforms, and asset management software.

Responsibilities

• Identify and capture value-maximizing market participation opportunities for assets in operation.
• Drive operating cost efficiency across the portfolio and lead RFP processes.
• Act as primary relationship owner for PPA counterparties and manage contractual obligations.
• Track green certificate market dynamics and maximize returns on surplus volumes.
• Define, track, and report on key technical KPIs and coordinate with O&M.
• Analyze performance data and propose improvement actions.
• Produce monthly and quarterly asset performance reports for stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Finance to explain variances for future projects.
• Interface with external stakeholders including O&M, asset manager, grid operators, and regulators.
• Collaborate with Investment, Legal, Finance, and M&A teams.

Position: Asset Manager / Energy Markets

Based in: Melbourne or Brisbane - Australia

We are looking for a Asset Manager, with experience in the solar PV and/or battery energy storage sector. The selected professional will be a highly motivated professional who will take ownership of our hybrid project portfolio. This is a hands‑on role for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, international environment and is passionate about renewable energy.

What will you do?

• Revenue & Market Participation: Identify and capture value‑maximizing market participation opportunities for assets in operation, from spot markets to ancillary services, ensuring optimal revenue positioning across all dispatch scenarios. Lead RFP processes for contracting representatives and battery optimizers.


• OPEX Optimization: Drive operating cost efficiency across the portfolio. Lead end‑to‑end RFP processes for contracting market representatives and battery optimizers, ensuring competitive selection and performance‑aligned commercial structures.


• PPA Counterparty Management: Act as the primary relationship owner for all PPA counterparties, proactively monitoring compliance with contractual obligations and managing any deviations or disputes throughout the full term of each agreement.


• Green Certificates & Environmental Attributes: Track green certificate market dynamics and maintain active dialogue with brokers to maximize returns on surplus volumes, identifying timing windows and market conditions that drive best execution.


• Technical KPI Reporting: Define, track, and report on key technical KPIs (production, availability, performance ratio, BESS efficiency and degradation, losses, etc.). Weekly coordination with O&M and monitoring departments.


• Performance Analysis: Analyse performance data, identify deviations against budget, and propose improvement actions.


• Stakeholder Reporting: Produce clear and accurate monthly and quarterly asset performance reports for internal stakeholders, the executive team, and country managers.


• Financial Variance Coordination: Coordinate with internal Finance and Controlling teams to explain performance variances, providing the reason for each deviation to ensure they are considered for future projects.


• External Interface: Serve as the primary technical interface with external stakeholders: O&M team, asset manager, optimiser, grid operators, and regulatory authorities.


• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams including Investment, Legal, Finance, and M&A to ensure operational alignment and business continuity.

What do we need?

• 4 years of professional experience in technical roles within the solar PV and/or BESS sector (asset management, technical management, O&M oversight, or engineering).


• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar qualification.


• Solid understanding of the full operational lifecycle of solar PV and battery energy storage systems, including performance analysis, maintenance strategies, and grid integration. Experience in hybrid project management (solar + BESS) is a plus.


• Knowledge of the Australian energy market (NEM/AEMO regulations, grid requirements, and market structure).


• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.


• Highly motivated, autonomous, and proactive — able to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of complex issues without day‑to‑day supervision.


• Prior experience at a renewable energy developer, IPP, or technical asset manager


• Fluent English (C1–C2 level), knowledge of Spanish would be a plus.


• Experience with performance monitoring tools, SCADA platforms, and asset management software is a plus.
