Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Take ownership of a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), combining site operational leadership with responsibility for the asset’s long-term performance.
Our client is seeking an Operations & Asset Manager to guide the facility through the transition from construction and commissioning into commercial operations. You will then oversee its ongoing operation, ensuring it performs safely, reliably and efficiently while meeting regulatory requirements, contractual commitments and revenue objectives.
This site-based position offers the opportunity to shape operational readiness from the outset and build the processes, maintenance strategies and working relationships that support performance throughout the asset’s lifecycle.
Our client develops and delivers clean energy infrastructure that supports Australia’s energy transition, with a focus on creating enduring value for employees, investors and the wider community.
Their culture is built around:
Lead the facility’s daily operations, targeting availability above 98% while maintaining reliability and efficiency. Oversee battery State of Health (SOH) and State of Charge (SOC), together with SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Battery Management Systems (BMS). Coordinate operational requirements with energy traders, AEMO and the relevant network service providers.
Establish preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programs that support long-term asset health. Manage contractors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and long-term service agreements (LTSAs), alongside asset records, critical spare parts and inventory requirements.
Develop and control operating expenditure budgets and contribute to capital expenditure forecasts. Identify opportunities to improve costs and performance while protecting safety standards and meeting contractual obligations and revenue targets.
Build a proactive site safety culture and maintain compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, environmental approvals and critical infrastructure security obligations, including CIRMP requirements under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018. Ensure effective controls are in place for battery and electrical hazards, including thermal runaway and arc flash.
Lead operational readiness and the handover from EPC delivery and commissioning teams, ensuring the facility is prepared for a smooth transition into full commercial operation.
Experience with lithium-ion battery systems, AEMO market operations and the National Electricity Rules would be highly regarded. Familiarity with ISO 55001, SCADA and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) would also be beneficial.
