Job summary

The Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water in Sydney is seeking an Asset Accountant and a Management Accountant at APS 6 level. You will manage asset registers, capital projects, budgeting, and month-end processes within the Parks Finance team.

Qualifications

• Citizenship: Australian citizen is required.
• Baseline Vetting security clearance is required.
• Pre-employment checks include National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance, and where required a medical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain asset registers, capital projects, asset disposals and adjustments in line with accounting standards.
• Prepare and post journals for asset expenditure and related adjustments.
• Support month-end processes including depreciation and WIP reviews.
• Develop and monitor capital budget allocations and funding; analyse project financials.
• Provide guidance to stakeholders on asset management per Australian Accounting Standards.
• Support briefs and audit processes with financial data and insights.
• Assist in asset stocktake, impairment assessments, and valuation cycles.
