Job summary

CSIRO’s Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong is recruiting an Asset Maintenance Project Lead. You will oversee planning, procurement and delivery of asset replacement and major maintenance across a high-risk asset portfolio, ensuring safety, compliance and lifecycle performance.

The opportunity

Join CSIRO’s Business & Infrastructure Services (CBIS) team at the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong. ACDP is a high-containment research facility supporting research into significant infectious diseases and biosecurity threats.

As the Asset Maintenance Project Lead, you will lead the planning, procurement and delivery of asset replacement, renewal and major maintenance projects across the ACDP asset portfolio. With a focus on high-risk, critical and compliance-sensitive assets, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and responsibly within agreed scope, budget and schedule.

The position exercises a high level of professional judgement and autonomy, working collaboratively with researchers, internal teams, service providers and regulators to strengthen asset governance, risk management and assurance practices at the ACDP.

Your high-level duties will include:

• Lead asset replacement, renewal and maintenance projects, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose.


• Plan and prioritise asset renewal and maintenance activities to support operational sustainability and lifecycle performance.


• Develop project scopes, procurement documentation and delivery strategies to achieve high-quality outcomes.


• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, governance controls and HSE standards across projects and assets.


• Manage project risks, budgets, schedules and stakeholder engagement to deliver successful project outcomes.


• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and service providers while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.


• Participate in the Duty On-call Engineer (DOE) rostering with relative experience.

Salary: AU$118k - AU$127k pa + 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term until June 30th 2029, Full-time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading complex asset programs and projects, including capital, renewal and major maintenance activities, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, risk and whole of life asset management.


• Strong expertise in asset compliance, risk and safety frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements and embed governance controls across procurement, contract management and project delivery.


• Proven capability in planning, prioritising and delivering concurrent programs, managing scope, budget, schedule and quality, and exercising sound professional judgement in complex or ambiguous environments.


• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence multi disciplinary teams and stakeholders, through strong relationships, professional credibility and collaboration.


• Proven commitment to continuous improvement and assurance, using performance data, audit outcomes and risk trends to strengthen asset governance, compliance maturity and organisational capability.


• Proven leadership and coaching capability, fostering accountability, ethical behaviour, professional development and alignment with organisational values.

Desirable

• Qualifications in asset management, facilities management, engineering or project management.


• Qualifications in work health and safety, risk management or quality management.


• Relevant professional certification or a Master of Business Administration.
