Job summary

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure is seeking an Asset Accounting Officer to arrange meetings, monitor transactions, and help account for commissioned assets in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.

You will provide expert advice, training, and collaborate with project managers and finance teams across Maritime and Business Information Systems to ensure accurate asset accounting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in asset accounting and applying Australian Accounting Standards.
• Strong analytical skills to tackle complex accounting challenges and find practical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with project managers, finance teams and stakeholders across areas such as Maritime and Business Information Systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice, deliver training, and support asset accounting across projects.
• Ensure asset accounting processes meet Australian Accounting Standards and Treasurer’s Instructions.
• Engage with project managers and internal stakeholders to interpret standards clearly.
• Review the Job Description Form and liaise with the Manager Assets and Taxation for clarification.
