Job summary

The Glade Group is seeking a casual asbestos removal operative to work on residential and commercial sites in Canberra. On‑site duties may include demolition, jackhammering, and using hand and power tools, with on‑the‑job training provided for the right candidate.

Candidates should have or be willing to obtain a white card and asbestos & silica awareness training, be physically fit, reliable, and able to work in a team.

Qualifications

• Experience in asbestos removal preferred but on-the-job training available.
• Must have white card and asbestos & silica awareness training.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and physical fitness a must.
• Current driver’s licence and own transport required; LR/MR/HR licence a plus.

Responsibilities

• Remove non-friable and friable asbestos safely in residential and commercial sites.
• Carry out demolition, jackhammering, and use of hand and power tools.
• Keep work areas clean and report hazards to supervisors.

Job description

The role will mostly consist of removing non-friable and friable asbestos from various areas of residential homes and commercial buildings, but may also include general labouring duties such as demolition, jackhammering, using power tools and site clean-up.

On the job training will be provided for the right candidate, however the following criteria will be looked upon favorably:

• Previousexperience in asbestos removal industry.
• Remove bonded or friable asbestos ticket.
• White card and asbestos & silica awareness training.
• Confident using a variety of hand & power tools and being able to look after tools.
• Focused and have strong communication skills and be able to use own initiative.
• Work in a team environment.
• Be physically fit.
• Current licence and own transport
• LR, MR or HR truck licence looked upon very favorably

The role will start as casual with the potential to switch to full time for the right candidate.
