Job summary

The National Gallery of Australia in Canberra is seeking an Art Store Clerk to provide friendly, frontline customer service and support daily store operations.

You will assist the Art Store Supervisor with stock, pricing, receiving, and merchandising, while sharing knowledge of current exhibitions with visitors. The role reports to the Art Store Supervisor and operates on a fortnightly roster; the Gallery is open daily 10am–5pm except Christmas.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a retail or public-facing role is advantageous.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Physical fitness for standing and light manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with customers, process transactions, and deliver a great experience.
• Assist with receiving, pricing, stocking and straightening merchandise.
• Maintain clean and presentable displays and store spaces daily.
• Support logistics and stock control activities under supervision.
• Respond to customer inquiries via email and in-store interactions.
