Downer is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead our surfacing operations across the Newcastle region. Reporting to the NSW/ACT State Manager, you will be responsible for safety, operational performance, financial results, client relationships and the leadership of a high-performing team.

This role offers autonomy to influence delivery and growth in a well-established business, with opportunities to shape tendering, contracts and overall performance in the regional market.

Competenze

• Operational leadership experience in surfacing or road infrastructure.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Finance or related discipline.
• Strong commercial acumen with budgeting experience.
• Knowledge of contract management and tendering.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

Downer is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead our surfacing operations across the Newcastle region. Reporting to the State Manager NSW/ACT, you will be responsible for safety, operational performance, financial results, client relationships and the leadership of a high-performing team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Newcastle surfacing business to achieve safety, financial and operational targets.
• Champion Downer's Zero Harm culture and safety leadership.
• Drive business growth through strong client relationships and work-winning activities.
• Manage budgets, forecasting and overall P&L performance.
• Oversee contract delivery, tender submissions and commercial outcomes.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and business performance.

ABOUT YOU

• Demonstrated operational leadership experience within surfacing, road infrastructure or a related industry.
• A genuine commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and business performance.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and win new work.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
• Knowledge of contract management, tendering and operational delivery.
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Finance or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
