JJ Drafting, based in Sydney, NSW, seeks a highly competent Architectural Drafter to independently manage technical drafting and documentation for residential projects. This is not an entry-level role, requiring deep understanding of why drawings are prepared a certain way.

You will develop complete drawing packages for DA/CDC/CC, review briefs and planning controls, and coordinate consultant information to ensure accurate, coordinated documentation for NSW projects.

Formación

• Advanced Archicad proficiency with ability to independently develop, manage and coordinate complete architectural drawing packages.
• Strong knowledge of LEPs, DCPs, the Housing SEPP and relevant DA/CDC approval pathways.
• Experience interpreting NCC provisions and building requirements for residential projects.
• Proven capability producing complete, coordinated construction documentation.
• 5+ years Australian residential drafting experience preferred, especially NSW projects.

JJ Drafting is seeking a highly competent, experienced Architectural Drafter capable of independently managing the technical drafting and documentation requirements of residential building projects. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who understands not only how to produce architectural drawings, but why buildings are designed and documented in a particular way.

Key responsibilities

• Independently develop, manage and coordinate complete architectural drawing packages


• Prepare architectural documentation for Development Applications (DA), Complying Development Certificates (CDC) and Construction Certificates (CC)


• Review project briefs, survey information and applicable planning controls before commencing documentation


• Identify potential design or compliance issues and communicate them proactively


• Develop comprehensive, accurate architectural drawing packages


• Coordinate consultant information and resolve documentation discrepancies within their authority


• Undertake drawing quality assurance before submitting work for review


• Take ownership of assigned projects and escalation matters requiring senior decisions


• Review and incorporate structural engineering, stormwater, survey, BASIX/NatHERS and other consultant information


• Manage assigned projects, meet deadlines and communicate outstanding issues

About you

• Advanced Archicad proficiency with ability to independently develop, manage and coordinate complete architectural drawing packages


• Sound working knowledge of Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), Development Control Plans (DCPs), the Housing SEPP and relevant DA and CDC approval pathways


• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant National Construction Code (NCC) provisions, construction standards and building requirements


• Proven experience preparing architectural documentation for Development Applications (DA), Complying Development Certificates (CDC) and Construction Certificates (CC)


• Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, structural coordination, waterproofing, building envelopes and construction detailing


• Ability to identify design conflicts, planning non-compliances, missing information and documentation deficiencies before submission


• Experience reviewing and incorporating structural engineering, stormwater, survey, BASIX/NatHERS and other consultant information


• Preferably 5+ years of relevant Australian residential architectural drafting experience


• Demonstrated experience working on projects within NSW


• Proven capability in producing complete, coordinated construction documentation
