Job summary

Maribyrnong City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Arborist to join the Urban Forest Team in Melbourne. You will work with a dedicated team to maintain and enhance the city's urban forest assets, delivering tree maintenance programs and ensuring safety and quality standards.

Reporting to the Team Leader Urban Forest, you will contribute to planning, collaboration with the Urban Forest Planner and contractors, and provide professional service to internal and external customers, while upholding

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent qualification.
• Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1/2).
• Heavy Rigid Vehicle License with experience driving above 15 tonnes, GCM.
• License to perform High Risk: Elevated Work Platform License.
• Traffic Management Certificate.
• Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control
• Current Victorian Driver's License.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake arboriculture and parks maintenance tasks to Council's standards.
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Council's Urban Forest.
• Provide support to the Team Leader Urban Forest with diverse tasks.
• Provide professional, efficient, friendly and timely customer service.
• Complete daily Plant Check Sheets and Defect Reports.
• Regularly maintain all equipment; ensure chainsaws and arboriculture gear are fit for purpose.
• Safely operate Council plant and equipment including tools, platforms, trucks and towers.
• Implement traffic management plans and JSA’s; follow safe work procedures.
