Job summary

Maribyrnong City Council is seeking an Arborist to join the Urban Forest Team in Melbourne. You will help maintain the urban forest assets and support the team leader with diverse tasks to meet quality standards and productivity targets.

You will work with a multidisciplinary group to ensure safe, efficient operations and high-quality customer service, while adhering to safety procedures and local management plans.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent.
• Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1/2) held.
• Heavy Rigid vehicle license with experience driving above 15 tonnes, GCM.
• Elevated Work Platform license (High Risk) held.
• Traffic Management Certificate.
• Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control.
• Current Victorian Driver's License.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• No relevant criminal record shown in Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake arboriculture and parks maintenance tasks and programs to Council's standards.
• Contribute to maintenance and improvement of Council's Urban Forest in line with management practices.
• Provide support to the Team Leader Urban Forest to meet quality standards and productivity goals.
• Provide professional, efficient, friendly and timely customer service to internal and external customers.
• Complete daily Plant Check Sheets and Defect Reports per Fleet Maintenance procedures.
• Maintain equipment and tools, especially chainsaws and specialised arboriculture gear.
• Safely operate Council plant and equipment including tools, elevated platforms, trucks and related equipment.
• Implement traffic management plans and Job Safety Action Plans; follow safe work procedures for all activities.
