Job summary

Maribyrnong City Council's Urban Forest Team is seeking an Arborist to support maintenance of council trees and urban forest assets. You will work with a dedicated team to deliver tree maintenance programs and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Reporting to the Team Leader Urban Forest, you’ll operate plant and equipment, contribute to program delivery, and provide professional customer service to internal and external clients across western Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent qualification.
• Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1/2).
• Heavy Vehicle License with experience driving above 15 tonnes.
• Elevated Work Platform License (High Risk).
• Traffic Management Certificate.
• Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control.
• Current Victorian Driver's License.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake arboriculture and parks maintenance tasks to Council's standards.
• Contribute to maintenance and improvement of the Urban Forest.
• Provide support to the Team Leader Urban Forest to meet quality and productivity targets.
• Provide professional, efficient, friendly and timely customer service.
• Complete daily Plant Check Sheets and Defect Reports.
• Regularly maintain all equipment and tools, including chainsaws.
• Safely operate Council plant and equipment (e.g., trucks, elevated platforms).
• Implement traffic management plans and adhere to safe work procedures.

Education

Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or equivalent qualification

Chainsaw Operators Certificate (Level 1/2)

Heavy Vehicle License (HR) with experience (>15 tonnes, GCM)

Elevated Work Platform License (High Risk)

Traffic Management Certificate

Certificate II ESI Powerline Vegetation Control

Current Victorian Driver's License

Current Working with Children Check

Police Check with no relevant record
