Job summary

Merri-bek City Council seeks an enthusiastic Arborist to join the Forest Maintenance team in the Urban Forest Unit. You will help maintain the city’s urban forest, operate arboriculture machinery, and work across Brunswick, Coburg and surrounding suburbs with a safety‑first mindset.

The role requires Certificate III in Arboriculture, a Licence to Perform High Risk Work for Elevating Work Platforms over 11m, a Medium Rigid licence, White Card and Working With Children Check.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Arboriculture required.
• Licences including High Risk Work for elevating platforms over 11m and MR vehicle.
• Working With Children’s Check and White Card are mandatory.
• First aid certification and strong OH&S practices expected.
• Experience with arboriculture equipment and safe climbing methods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Merri-bek’s urban forest to a high standard.
• Operate elevating platforms, woodchippers and chainsaws safely.
• Work as part of a team with strong time management and customer service.
• Apply OH&S practices and safe climbing techniques.
