Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council invites applications for the role of Supervisor Aquatic Operations. This senior position leads the management of Council’s aquatic facilities, ensuring contracts, safety, and service delivery align with the corporate plan.

The role focuses on developing partnerships with external operators, monitoring KPIs, and driving operational excellence across facilities to serve the community.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be willing to obtain a relevant tertiary qualification in sport, aquatics, and recreation management or related field.
  • Candidates should hold or be prepared to obtain a current C Class Queensland Driver Licence; Blue Card; First Aid and CPR; Pool Lifeguard; aquatic technical operations qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Managing all agreements related to Council’s Aquatic Centres, ensuring compliance with contracts, legislation, local laws, code of conduct, values and policies.
  • Monitoring KPIs to ensure effective management and operation of facilities and delivery of contract outcomes.
  • Developing strong professional relationships with external operators to facilitate community benefits.

About the Opportunity

The Supervisor Aquatic Operations will be pivotal in leading, developing, and managing one of Council’s core community services and will ensure that asset management and service delivery aligns with council's corporate plan.


This role encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities which may vary as directed by Council. The key ones include:



  • Managing all agreements in relation to Council’s Aquatic Centres, ensuring compliance with the contracts, legislation, local laws, code of conduct and values, and Council's policies and procedures.

  • Monitoring key performance indicators to ensure the effective management and operation of the Council’s facilities and delivery of agreed contract outcomes.

  • Developing strong and professional relationships with external operators, facilitating collaboration with Council for the benefit of the community.


About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant tertiary qualification in sport, aquatics, and recreation management or a related field OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also required that the candidate hold or be willing to obtain:



  • current \"C\" Class Queensland Drivers Licence;

  • current Blue Card (Working with Children Check);

  • current First Aid and CPR;

  • current Pool Lifeguard; and

  • aquatic technical operations qualification.
