Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is hiring a part-time Lifeguard to operate and maintain council pools across Jindabyne, Adaminaby and Berridale. The role includes ensuring safety, monitoring water quality, handling memberships and light kiosk sales, and completing documentation.

Applicants should hold a Lifeguard certification with willingness to obtain Senior First Aid and CPR; a NSW Class C Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check are required or advantageous. Weekend rosters apply.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification with willingness to gain Senior First Aid and CPR.
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority.
• Current Provide CPR certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority.
• Working with Children Check and NSW Class C Drivers Licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the operation of Council's swimming pools effectively and efficiently for safe enjoyment.
• Undertake routine operations and maintenance of aquatic facilities, pool equipment and safety.
• Monitor and document water quality and temperature; escalate to supervisor as required.
• Prepare and set up the facility; including cleaning of pools, amenities, and grounds.
• Process entries, memberships, and light kiosk sales; reconcile daily cash.
• Complete operational documentation relevant to the position.
• Contribute to Council performance with professional conduct and accountability.
• Willingness to work at Jindabyne, Adaminaby and Berridale pools.

Package: $36.51 per hour + 12% (Grade 6 of the SMRC Salary System 2026-2027)

Part Time - 20 hours per week

About the Role:

• Facilitate the operation of Council's swimming pools effectively and efficiently for the safe enjoyment of the facilities by all customers.
• Undertake routine operations and maintenance of aquatic facilities, pool equipment and safety.
• Monitor and document water quality and temperature, correct or escalate to supervisor as required.
• Prepare and set up the facility as required, including cleaning of pools, amenities, and surrounding grounds and facilities.
• Process entries, memberships, and light kiosk sales. Reconcile daily cash sales.
• Complete operational documentation relevant to the position.
• Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions.
• Willingness to work at any Council-managed pools Jindabyne, Adaminaby and Berridale

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have:

Lifeguard certification including the following or willingness to gain:

1. Current Senior First Aid Certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority
2. Current Provide CPR certificate recognised by the Work Cover Authority

• Good public relations and customer service skills
• Experience in public pool supervision, management, operation and water testing
• Understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety practices and principles
• Available to work various rosters including weekends
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Current Working with Children Check
• Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence

Desirable criteria:

• Basic knowledge and understanding of maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, lawns, gardens, pumps and other plant associated with public swimming pools.
