face2face Recruitment is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer for a federal government client in Canberra. The role delivers procurement activities and expert guidance across the lifecycle—from sourcing to transition to contract management—and leads a small team under limited direction.

The ideal candidate will navigate compliance, stakeholder engagement, tender documentation and negotiations, ensuring timely, effective procurements. A baseline security clearance is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of procurement and contract management, including the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
  • Ability to provide practical advice on complex procurement processes and deliver responsive customer service.
  • Leadership and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate work and deliver quality outcomes on time.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Research and analytical skills to assess procurement requirements, risks and options.
  • Previous procurement, contract management or relevant transferable experience is highly regarded, as is a Certificate IV in Procurement and Contract Management.

  • Advise business areas on complex procurement matters, including sourcing options, specifications, market research, spending approvals and timeframes.
  • Prepare tender management plans and procurement documentation, support tender evaluations and contribute to contract negotiations.
  • Lead a small team, coordinate priorities and contribute to the section’s long-term planning.
  • Support procurement risk assessments, probity processes, quality assurance activities and accurate record keeping.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide clear, practical advice to support timely procurement outcomes.

About the Role

Our federal government client is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to deliver procurement activities and provide expert guidance to business areas.

Working under limited direction, you will lead a small team and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure procurements are compliant, effective and delivered on time. The role spans the procurement lifecycle, including supply planning, tender documentation, evaluation, contract negotiations and transition to contract management.
