Job summary

The Government Agency in Canberra is seeking a senior assessment and program management professional to lead end-to-end assessment and quality assurance activities. You will oversee workflow planning, risk identification and the interpretation of complex evidence in high‑risk cases.

You will supervise assessors, coordinate information requests and drive continuous improvement through SOP updates. A strong APS background, baseline security clearance and excellent written communication are

Qualifications

  • Experience within the APS in assessment, assurance, compliance or regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to manage or quality assure complex assessment processes.
  • Excellent written communication with defensible recommendations and reports.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret detailed documentary evidence.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring or supervising staff.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a high‑volume environment.
  • Experience engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end assessment and quality assurance activities.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement through process refinement and SOP updates.

Your new role
  • Lead end-to-end assessment and quality assurance activities

This role operates with a high level of autonomy and requires strong judgement in managing sensitive and complex matters.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience from within the APS in assessment, assurance, compliance or regulatory environments
  • Security requirement: Baseline Security Clearance
  • Proven ability to manage or quality assure complex assessment processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret detailed documentary evidence
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing defensible recommendations and reports
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring or supervising staff
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Experience with case management systems and data/reporting processes
  • Sound judgement and decision‑making skills in sensitive or high‑risk scenarios
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
