Job summary

The APS6 Support Needs Assessor role is a nationwide Federal Government opportunity with a hybrid work model in South Australia. It offers hourly rate of 61.86 AUD plus super and potential for extension or permanency.

You will conduct comprehensive assessments, gather information from participants and representatives, interpret complex data, and produce clear, ethical, trauma-informed reports that support informed decisions in line with policy.

Qualifications

  • A recognised tertiary qualification in an allied health or relevant clinical discipline.
  • Strong assessment capability with ability to gather, interpret and synthesise information.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive support needs assessments with participants and representatives in a trauma-informed, person-centred manner.
  • Analyse, interpret and synthesise complex information to develop evidence-based assessments.
  • Prepare high-quality written reports aligned with legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Communicate assessment processes and outcomes clearly to participants, families and stakeholders.

Your New Role
  • Conducting comprehensive support needs assessments by engaging with participants and their representatives to gather detailed, accurate information, ensuring a respectful, trauma-informed and person-centred approach throughout the process.
  • Analysing, interpreting and synthesising complex information and external evidence to develop clear, evidence-based assessments that accurately reflect individual circumstances and inform appropriate support outcomes.
  • Preparing high-quality written assessment reports that are clear, consistent and aligned with legislative and policy frameworks, ensuring decisions are transparent, defensible and uphold ethical standards.
  • Communicating effectively with participants, families and stakeholders across a range of channels, explaining assessment processes and outcomes in a way that is accessible, inclusive and easy to understand.
What You Will Need to Succeed
  • A recognised tertiary qualification in an allied health or relevant clinical discipline (such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or similar), is a requirement for the role.
  • Strong assessment capability and background, with the ability to gather, interpret and synthesise complex information to support clear, evidence-based decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey complex or sensitive information in a clear, respectful and accessible way across diverse audiences.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving ability, with experience applying policy and managing risk to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.

The Logistics Contract until December 31st, 2026, with a view of extension or permanency. Full-time & Hybrid working arrangement. Hourly rate of $61.86 + super. Australian Citizenship & tertiary qualification (proof required) is mandatory. Opportunities across SA, including: Adelaide, Elizabeth, Modbury & St Mary's.
