Comcare (Australian Government) is seeking APS6 Analysts to contribute to policy across the financial system, retirement incomes, consumer protection, corporate regulation and digital economy. You will work closely with ministers, regulators, industry and consumer groups to deliver reforms that strengthen Australia's economy and financial system.

Successful candidates will manage significant policy and reform projects, contribute to legislation and regulatory initiatives, and influence decisions

Qualifications

  • Manage components of legislative and regulatory reform projects from design to implementation.
  • Analyse data and stakeholder feedback to inform policy recommendations.
  • Build relationships with regulators, industry, consumer groups and government agencies.
  • Coordinate work across stakeholders to deliver government priorities.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and contribute to a high-performing team culture.

Synopsis

A Markets Group is seeking APS6 Analysts to contribute to the development and implementation of policy across the financial system, retirement incomes, consumer protection, corporate regulation and digital economy.

About the role

APS6 officers play an important role in shaping government decisions, managing complex work, and providing high-quality advice on issues of national significance.

This is an opportunity to work closely with ministers, regulators, industry and consumer groups to deliver reforms that strengthen Australia's economy and financial system. Successful candidates will have opportunities to manage significant policy and reform projects, contribute to legislation and regulatory initiatives, and influence decisions through exposure to senior leaders across government and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake complex policy analysis and provide strategic advice on economic, legal and regulatory issues.
  • Prepare high-quality ministerial briefs, Cabinet submissions, correspondence and consultation materials.
  • Manage significant components of legislative and regulatory reform projects from design through to implementation.
  • Analyse data, stakeholder feedback and market developments to inform policy recommendations and government decision-making.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with regulators, industry, consumer groups and other government agencies.
  • Coordinate work across stakeholders to support the delivery of government priorities and reform outcomes.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.
Desirable skills / experience

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including economics, law, commerce, finance, public policy, data and digital policy, regulation and public administration.

Relevant experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:

  • Policy development and implementation.
  • Legislative and regulatory reform.
  • Financial services and financial regulation.
  • Superannuation and retirement incomes.
  • Consumer protection and competition policy.
  • Digital policy, payments, AI, data or emerging technologies.
  • Stakeholder engagement, project management and policy delivery.

Successful applicants will typically have demonstrated experience managing complex policy issues, exercising sound judgement, building effective stakeholder relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
