Job summary

MidCoast Council is seeking an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic based at the Taree Depot to learn while contributing to maintenance of vehicles and equipment across sites.

Over a 4-year paid apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on skills repairing equipment from small tools to graders, under experienced mentors, with a 38-hour week and a starting salary range of 32,500 to 55,300, plus 12% superannuation.

Successful candidates will be required to:

• Commence employment on Monday, 1 February 2027.
• Complete a pre-employment skills assessment as part of the interview process.
• Undertake a medical assessment that will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component
• Obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencing on 1 February 2027.

What we offer

Salary: Salary range $32,500 to $55,300 in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.

Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.

Location: MidCoast Council's Taree Depot at 36 Arkwright Crescent, Taree. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure:

• 4-year fixed term
• Full-time 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a fortnightly rostered day off.
