Job summary

Green by Nature is offering a four-year paid apprenticeship in Sports Turf Management in Canberra. You will work alongside professionals to maintain premier sports fields, including cricket wickets and AFL, rugby, and soccer surfaces. The program combines paid work with a nationally recognised Cert III in Sports Turf Management.

By completion, you could advance to Team Leader, Supervisor or Site Manager, with ongoing training and safety programs throughout the apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• No previous sports turf experience required.
• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• White Card and WWVP registration are required or can be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Maintain elite playing surfaces including cricket wickets, AFL, rugby and soccer fields.
• Assist in installation and maintenance of irrigation systems and turf equipment.
• Learn and apply safety, chemical handling and environmental practices.
• Progress to supervisory roles as skills and knowledge grow.

Apprentice - Sports Turf Management

Kick start your career in sports turf management with Green by Nature and gain hands‑on experience maintaining some of Canberra's premier sporting facilities.

This four‑year apprenticeship combines paid practical training with a nationally recognised qualification, giving you the skills, knowledge and confidence to build a long‑term career in the industry. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll learn how to maintain elite playing surfaces, including cricket wickets, AFL, rugby and soccer fields that host community and competitive sport throughout the year.

By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be equipped with the practical skills and industry knowledge to progress into roles such as Team Leader, Supervisor or Site Manager.
