Thales Group in Sydney at Woolloomooloo's Garden Island invites applications for an Apprentice Shipwright to commence and complete a Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction. You will learn to perform a range of work including docking and undocking vessels and ship repair tasks.

As a first-year apprentice you will gain hands-on experience while developing literacy, numeracy, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced marine environment with safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Interest in maritime or previous work around ships/boats.
• Sound literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

You will learn to perform a range of work including:* Assisting a team in docking and undocking various types of vessels* Set up of docking cradle for various types of vessels, both large and small* All aspects of ship repair and maintenance**YOUR EXPERIENCE**As a first-year apprentice, we'll expect you to bring the following skills and behaviours:* Interest in maritime or previously have worked around ships/boats* Sound literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills* Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, at Heights and in Confined Spaces**AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY**A Defence security clearance NV1 is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/.
