Maitland City Council invites applications for an Apprentice Parks & Gardens as part of the Pathways Program. This four-year apprenticeship leads to a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens, with hands-on horticulture experience across Maitland’s parks, gardens and open spaces.

You will join a Recreation Services Team and work on planting, turf maintenance, weed control, equipment operation and community park projects, while attending TAFE for formal study in a supportive environment.

Formación

• Eligibility to undertake a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens
• Genuine interest in gardening and landscape maintenance
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Commitment to safety and workplace procedures
• Provisional or Class C Driver Licence by start date
• White Card (General Construction Induction) or willingness to obtain one before start

Responsabilidades

• Planting and maintaining gardens and landscaped areas
• Turf and open space maintenance
• Weed control and general horticultural duties
• Operating horticultural plant and equipment (mowers, power tools)
• Assisting with maintenance and improvement of community parks and facilities
• Work safely and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team
