Job summary

Blacktown City Council is offering a paid four-year apprenticeship for an Apprentice Painter. You will work with qualified tradespeople to prepare surfaces, apply paints and coatings, and maintain a wide range of council buildings and assets.

The program combines on-the-job training with a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating during the first three years. The role emphasizes hands-on work, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be minimum 15 years of age or older
• No longer at school or home-schooled
• If currently enrolled in school or home-schooled must: Have completed year 9 or equivalent; Provide written approval to proceed from school principal or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or an authorised person acting in lieu of a school principal.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside qualified tradespeople preparing surfaces, applying paints and protective coatings, using tools and equipment safely, and helping maintain Council buildings and assets.
• Follow instructions, assist with maintenance tasks, develop safe work practices and build practical skills through day-to-day activities.
• Support the safety and appearance of Blacktown City Council facilities and assets to ensure longevity and a quality community environment.
