Job summary

Downer in Berrimah, NT is offering an Apprenticeship for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic. You will earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeship.

You will work with skilled tradespeople in a busy workshop, participate in safety initiatives, and develop the skills needed for a long‑term career in the civil and road transport sector. Queensland and field exposure are also possible as you progress.

Qualifications

• Current Driver's Licence is required.
• Willingness to learn and proactive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and Zero Harm culture.
• Year 12 completion preferred.
• Adult applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Learn to repair and maintain heavy road transport vehicles, plant and equipment alongside experienced tradespeople.
• Assist with general workshop and labouring duties.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety days.
• Develop practical skills in a fully equipped workshop.
• Progress towards a trade qualification over the 4‑year apprenticeship.
